On a bring-your-own-key plan, every AI feature runs on your own API keyrather than a platform-provided model. You add the key once in Settings and it powers chat, Insights, the Studio assistant, SOQL generation, Tech Debt, Security Review, and every other AI surface. Until a key is added, AI features show a prompt instead of running — the rest of the app (explorer, search, SOQL console, tables) works without one.
You pay your AI provider directly
Each AI request is billed to your provider account, and a failed or cancelled run can still consume tokens. Use a dedicated key with a spending limit set at your provider, and monitor usage from your provider's console. The in-app Usage page tracks what the app consumed on your key.

Open Settings
Go to Settings and find the Your AI provider card. - 2
Pick a provider and paste the key
Choose Anthropic, OpenAI, OpenRouter, or another supported provider. Self-hosted or OpenAI-compatible endpoints can set a custom base URL too. - 3
Choose a model
orgadmin.ai fetches the models your key can access and shows each model's context window. Saving runs a quick tool-calling probe, so you know the key and model actually work before you rely on them.

Pick a large-context model
The org-analysis features feed a lot of schema and code to the model. Models with bigger context windows (200k+) give noticeably better answers on large orgs.
Good to know
- Your key is stored encrypted and is personal to you — each teammate adds their own.
- Prompts go to the provider you choose under that provider's API terms. orgadmin.ai never trains on your data.
